Modifying Existing Buffer pools

Earlier we have seen how to create the Bufferpool in DB2, this article explains you to modify the sizes of existing buffer pools. Because of data constantly changes, it is easy to see how it may be necessary to modify the sizes of existing buffer pools many times in order to maintain optimal performance.This can be done by using the ALTER BUFFERPOOL command.

This utility can be used to test the integrity of a backup image and to determine whether or not the image can be restored. It can also be used to display the metadata stored in the backup header.

After restoring the production data to a test enviorment database and while doing rollforward, we might experience an issue that the temporary tablespace could not be rollforwarded due to more redo.

Disk full error while doing rollforward

While doing rollforward, we might experience a state where in the disk will be full. During that scenarios, try to find out the file system which is full and do the cleanup; reissue the command again after checking the query status

For ex:

newlogpath parameter i.e. /db2/data/ is full while doing rollforward

disk full error shown in db2diag.log

change the newlogp

While doing backup or rollforward database, when the user try to connect to the database the following error will be displayed i.e.
